Huya announce the first cross-regional China-SEA LAN tournament since coronavirus pandemic
The Chinese broadcast platform Huya and the CDA League in association with FMWH announce the first tournament to feature both China and Southeast Asia teams fighting in both online and offline matches since March 2020, when the coronavirus pandemic changed the entire competitive scene schedule.
Dota 2 Winter Invitational will be held December 13-27, with a total of 14 teams fighting for the title and a share of the 600,000 CNY (≃ $92,000). Ten teams received direct invites to the event, with four more to join them via regional qualifiers. The tournament is set to end the 2020 year with online matches held through the group stage and LAN finals, which will be hosted at a yet to be revealed location in China.
Dota 2 Winter Invitational directly invited teams:
China: EHOME, Team Aster, royal Never Give Up, Invictus Gaming, Sparking Arrow Gaming
SEA: IO, Neon Esports, Execration, 496 Gaming, Army Geniuses.
Each regional qualifier will add two more teams to the participants list.
Dota 2 Winter Invitational schedule:
- Group stage: December 13-21
- Playoffs: December 22-27
- LAN finals: December 25-27
Prize pool distribution:
- 1st: 200,000 CNY
- 2nd: 120,000 CNY
- 3rd: 90,000 CNY
- 4th: 60,000 CNY
- 5th: 30,000 CNY
- 6th: 30,000 CNY
- 7th -8th: 15,000 CNY
- 9th -12th: 7,500 CNY
- 13th -14th: 5,000 CNY
Apart from the prize pool, Dota 2 Winter Invitational will give an extra prize to the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
