Semmler won't return to cast the Overwatch League in 2020

The former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive commentator Auguste “Semmler” Massonnat has announced today that he will not be returning to cast the Overwatch League in 2020.

In a move that could mean his return to CS:GO, Semmler tweeted that the hardest part of this decision was putting a two-year partnership on hold. He likely referred to Robert “hexagrams” Kirkbride, with whom he built a good synergy during his time with the OWL.

Semmler on Twitter

I will not be returning to cast full-time at @overwatchleague. The hard part is putting a 2 year partnership on hold. Thanks to @hexagrams for having my back in all things. Too many in the crew to thank, you know who you are. Best of luck with the homestands!

It seems as though Semmler’s passion for CS:GO never truly left him. In November last year, he casted the BLAST Pro Series event in Copenhagen, just shortly after the OWL season ended. That was perhaps a hint at his return to Counter Strike.
