WePlay to inaugurate their own Arena in Kyiv this December with a Mortal Kombat 11 tourney
WePlay Esports expand their reach to fighting games. Their very first Mortal Kombat 11 will boast a $60,000 prize pool and will be the event to inaugurate the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv.
WePlay Dragon Temple will be held December 10 – 13, with the best Mortal Kombat 11 players testing their strength in a custom built arena, announce WePlay.
“With WePlay Dragon Temple, our team gets to create a new experience in a title we have never worked on before. We are probably as excited as the fans will be when they see all the great matchups we have planned for them. We intend to provide the same level of entertainment you have come to know us for,” said Eugene “Hitras” Shepelev, Lead Esports Manager at WePlay Esports.
Esports commentator James “BanKs” Banks worked with WePlay for this special tournament as project consultant and had the following to add: “As an ex-professional player back in Virtua Fighter, I have always had a real passion for fighting games. When I first learned about the event, I was thrilled to get the chance to be involved. It’s awesome how WePlay Esports plan to bring us Christmas early with the Dragon Temple tournament. Together with the team, we will do everything possible to make this one of the best Mortal Kombat events you have ever seen!”
The tournament will feature two competition stages, starting with two round-robin groups, where the players will need to win two out of three sets against their opponent to advance further. The top four players from each group will advance into the playoffs stage where they will battle it out in a best-of-five double elimination bracket.
