A new Nintendo Pokemon game was just announced and it’s free to play right now

Nintendo and the Pokemon company have this afternoon held a special Pokemon Direct announcing a whole slew of developments currently in the works or coming in 2020.

But there's one announcment that's great news for fans right away.

The Pokemon Company revealed that they will release a new Pokemon game in March; 'Pokemon Mystery Dungeon : Rescue Team DX'

It's a remake of the popular Pokemon Mystery Dungeon roguelikes released back in 2006.

For those who don't know the game, here's a quick overview of what you can expect:

"In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team, you wake up in a world inhabited entirely by Pokémon, as a Pokémon yourself, with no knowledge of how you got there or how you can return to human form.

But perhaps there's a reason for your arrival. Now that you can understand the Pokémon language, you learn that a series of natural disasters is threatening the community. You soon befriend another Pokémon and form a Rescue Team to help Pokémon in distress.

You receive missions to rescue Pokémon trapped in dangerous dungeons, which are always randomly generated (meaning that you'll never play the same dungeon twice), battling wild Pokémon using a turn-based style of combat.

As well as taking on missions deep underground you also have a vast overworld to explore, where you can make friends with hundreds of Pokémon and recruit new members to your team.

In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, having fun and making friends is just as important as fighting. So assemble your best Rescue Team and discover your destiny as a Pokémon!"

As we mentioned previously, Rescue Team DX will launch on the Nintendo Switch March 6, 2020.

However, for those interested in seeing what all the fuss is about, there's a brand new demo available right now for fans to play.

So head keep an eye on your Nintendo Switch eShop later today for the demo.

In addition to the above, The Pokemon Company also revealed two big new expansions for Pokemon Sword and Shield which will be launching throughout 2020.

There's also several free updates to Sword and Shield coming to the game later today.
