Bridge Constructor Crosses Over With… The Walking Dead?

Nobody asked for this Bridge Constructor / The Walking Dead crossover, but we’re glad it’s coming later in 2020.

Telltale’s The Walking Dead series is well and truly dead, but Bridge Constructor is alive and well. This normally would have nothing to do with The Walking Dead, but a trailer just released at Gamescom shows that the two actually have much more in common than you’d expect. For example, they sometimes both have bridges in them.

Okay, this is a bit of a stretch, but Bridge Constructor as a series isn’t averse to the occasional weird crossover. Bridge Collector: Portal arrived in 2017 and featured everyone’s favorite psychotic robot GLaDOS as she orchestrated logistics projects to get important scientific supplies from one Aperture Science lab to the other via both portals and bridges. Because apparently portals didn’t quite stretch far enough to cross the occasional gorge.

Now Bridge Constructor is crossing over again with The Walking Dead. The live-action trailer showcased at Gamescom shows a bridge-loving survivor getting eaten by walkers as a brief snippet of gameplay shows on his discarded laptop.

As with previous entries into the Bridge Constructor series, the objective is to make a bridge using limited resources, only this time it’s so that the survivors can escape the onrushing horde of undead walkers. Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead will feature actual characters from the show, including Daryl, Michonne, and Eugene, and even some “iconic vehicles from the series.”

And apparently, you’ll even kill a few zombies while you’re busy making bridges. “Use movable level objects, explosives, and baits to your advantage as you lure walkers into lethal traps and guide your survivors to safety,” reads the Steam page that just popped up.

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead is coming to both current-gen and next-gen consoles for both Xbox and PlayStation, as well as the Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam, and iOS and Android. Wishlist now for an eventual 2020 release.
