Call Of Duty 2020 ARG reveals secret website and new tease for Friday

This year’s new Call Of Duty still hasn’t been announced and probably won’t be this Friday either, as fans wait for a new set of clues.

As you may have noticed, the new Call Of Duty hasn’t been revealed yet and the mysterious crates sent out to influencers, to be opened on Monday evening, have turned out to be just one more part of a complex ARG (alternate reality game).

Not since the days of Halo 2’s I Love Bees has an ARG been used so prominently to promote a new game, although hopes that it was building up to an official announcement have once again been dashed.

That is presumably the final goal but the end result of the crates – which contained a 1950s projector and a number of slides – is a new website called, which features a VCR that alternately flashes the date 14 August, which is this Friday, and the time 12.00.

Working out the URL took a lot of puzzle-solving, with streamer NoahJ456 attracting over 100,00 viewers while he figured things out.

Everything eventually pointed towards a famous chess game between the US and the USSR in 1972, which again may be a hint at one of the settings in the game (in terms of the year, not the chess match).

It’s tempting to think that maybe that means Friday is finally when the game will be announced but according to NoahJ456, Activision has told him that the crates were merely the ‘first step’ of the ARG.

Despite not having been announced yet, everything suggests that the new Call Of Duty will be released this year as normal, probably in late October or early November.

Activision has already confirmed it exists and that developer Treyarch and Raven Software are working on it, but the pandemic has affected plans for its reveal and no doubt slowed down development as well.

As far as anyone knows the plan is still to announce the game through Call Of Duty: Warzone, whose map is expected to change to reflect the Cold War setting of the new game.

Indeed, the new version of the map seems to be hanging on the wall, to the right of the TV, in the new website, so it’s just a matter of waiting and seeing what the next clues reveal.
