Call of Duty Cold War formally announced, official reveal coming next week
Call of Duty 2020 is a pretty badly-kept secret – we already know Activision is working on the title thanks to a statement in the company' s financial earnings report from last week.
Early looks at the game's artwork, as well as an insight into its weapons and perks and even its final name, have all leaked online – and we've also seen gameplay clips from the title surface on the internet, too.
At least we've finally got a formal reveal from Activision now, though – this week, the publisher has started to (very slowly) reveal the game to fans via the Treyarch Twitter account.
The image at the head of this article is the first official bit of key art we've seen from the game, and we're certain more solid news is coming on 26 August, 2020 – the date teased in the image itself.
In July, we saw the official Microsoft Store publish a listing for a game codenamed "The Red Door" which has CoD publisher Activision pegged as the publisher.
Since then, Activision President Rob Kostich stated: "Treyarch and Raven are coming up with the next premium game, and obviously, very excited about what they’re working on and we do think fans are going to absolutely love it.
"The game looks incredible right now, and internally, people are having a ton of fun playing across its campaign mode as well as the online modes that the developers are very well known for.
"And so, all I can say in terms of timing is I suspect you’ll be hearing more about this fairly soon."
We'll keep you updated as we hear more.
