Call of Duty Modern Warfare patch ‘with all the fixes’ coming this week

We're approaching the end of Season 1 in Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and just before the end of the Season hits, we're expecting another massive update to the latest FPS title.

Developer Infinity Ward and publisher Activision have confirmed that we'll be seeing a variety of changes coming to the game this week.

These changes include bug fixes, tweaks to game modes and general optimisation updates – so you can expect a fairly hefty patch.

We can also expect the developer to add and remove game modes when the patch hits, too. So far we've seen modes rotate in every major update the game has seen.

But when will this patch land?

Currently, we're not sure – Activision or Infinity Ward has not announced when it'll drop in the game. The most we know is that it 'should' drop in January.

Joe Cecot, co-design director of multiplayer at Infinity Ward, noted on Twitter : “[The patch] should launch in January. Don’t have an exact date.”

“Our next big update should have all of the fixes. We start pushing this update through this week. I don’t have the exact date. Sorry.”

We assume 'pushing it through' means sending the patch through for approval from the platform holders (Microsoft, PlayStation and so on) and that process can take up to a week.

This incoming patch with 'all the fixes' isn't the only update in the works, either.

Infinity Ward's art director has also shared info on Reddit that confirms we'll be getting more slots for loadouts in the coming weeks, too.

“You and everyone else that has commented on this are right," Joel Emslie noted on Reddit . "It’s in mainline back at the studio, and we’ve been tinkering with it.

“I’m not sure which update its in, but I think it’s next. Believe it or not, it can cause horrible bugs if not tested properly. I’m not certain about all this, so don’t get fired up on me if I’m wrong. Since I’ve commented here, I'll stick with the issue at the studio.”

Though we don't know when these updates will land, we at least know that the updates will drop before the end of Season 1 – which is due to finish on January 28.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more.
