Dead Space Remake Has New Game Plus With Necromorph Variants

The Dead Space Remake is right around the corner, and while it's scary to peek, some of you just can't help yourselves. Answering a question on Twitter, the upcoming game's official account confirmed that not only would there be an alternative secret ending to 2008's modern classic, but also a new game plus mode, level six suit, and phantom necromorph variants.

We already knew about the secret ending thanks to the trophy list being revealed early, but this is the first we've heard about new game plus or the new kinds of necromorphs. Gamers excited for the game flooded the comments. as did Walmart Canada Gaming, strangely. No hint as to what exactly a phantom variant is, however.

Developers on the remake have said the remastered sound design makes it "just too fucking scary," so maybe you'll need that new game plus so you know what horrors await you and don't need to cower behind the sofa.

If you can't wait until January 27 to get back into the boots of Isaac Clarke, you can hop into Fortnite, as the battle royale game has announced a Dead Space crossover skin, available now.

We've also had hints from legendary horror director John Carpenter that there may be a Dead Space movie in the works, following his praise for the series. If true, it would mean EA is keen to revive this series in a big way. He said, "I’m not gonna do it. I think they already have another director involved. And they haven’t asked me to do it."

This remake is being helmed by EA Motive, the studio that also made the modern Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Star Wars: Squadrons.Original co-creator Glen Schofield told TheGamer in an interview last year "It feels weird that I'm not involved," but ultimately, "I root for developers."
