Xur is coming back to Destiny 2 today and is set to offer a new roster of juicy gear to buy in exchange for Legendary Shards.

The big mystery will be where Xur is and what he is selling, and unfortunately for us, we have to wait for those answers until later.

Bungie never reveals where the mysterious Merchant will appear in the world of Destiny, or what he might have in his coat of tricks.

It’s up to Guardians to scour the various locations we know Xur can appear, which usually includes Nessus, The Tower and the Winding Cove.

Bungie hasn’t added new locations for a while, so it means we have a shortlist of places to visit later today on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Xur will be offering a new range of exotic weapons, exotic armour, and an exotic engram at 6pm BST on Friday, July 30.

He will remain in the game for a short period, disappearing on Tuesday, August 3, as part of the first monthly rest.

And when he does appear today, we’ll be sure to add everything Xur is offering this week at the top of this article.

Last week, guardians tracked down the elusive Merchant on Nessus, near the Watcher’s Grave, located in the Giant Tree.

Xur was selling The Liar’s Handshake for 23 Legendary Shards, The Huckleberry for 29 Legendary Shareds, Karnstein Armlets for 23 Legendary Shards and Mk. 44 Stand Asides for 23.

For anyone who has forgotten, Legendary Shards used by Xur items are remnants of powerful items used to improve gear or trade for other items.

It should also be noted that Xur will be dropping items similar in power level to your character.

And another part of Xur that is new to the latest version of Destiny 2 is that he now drops Cipher Quests for free.

The Quest will reward you with an exotic Cipher, and last week included completing 21 Strikes or winning the same number of Crucible or Gambit matches.

Every week, Guardians can acquire one Exotic Engram using Legendary Shards that will decrypt as Exotics that aren’t already in your collection.

Today also saw Bungie confirm some other big news for August, with Crossplay set to return to the game.

“In Season 15, Cross Play comes to life. Guardians across Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Stadia will be able to join fireteams to take on the Darkness together. Boundaries will be broken and new friendships will be forged – no matter the platform.

“Early during Season 14, we crossed the platform streams and invited you to participate in a three-day Vanguard Strikes Cross Play matchmaking beta. Our goals were to prove early versions of our matchmaking changes, as well as test out connectivity for gameplay between the platforms.

“Numerous Guardians answered the call and helped us test out the backend of this upcoming feature! As it turned out, we may have accidentally left an unintended door open… oops. Even though we had to shut that down, we weren’t the only ones who were delighted to finally hug our long-lost cross-platform friends in-game.

“Thank you for going on this journey with us. You helped build confidence in what we’re delivering to the community in Season 15: full Cross Play across all Destiny 2 platforms.”
