Fallout 76 UPDATE: Server Status news for PS4 and Xbox One July 9 patch
A new update is being released for Fallout 76 today, with Bethesda confirming that servers will be going offline too.
Maintenance is being planned for July 9, but it won’t be the recently advertised Patch 11.
Patch 11 is the next major content update being planned for Fallout 76 and is set to include some significant changes.
This was supposed to be released in early July but has since been pushed back a few weeks to solve some last minute issues.
So as a recap, today’s Fallout 76 server downtime and maintenance is not connected to patch 11.
Instead, Fallout 76 servers are being taken offline so work can be done on the Atomic Shop.
Downtime is expected to begin at around 3pm on all platforms, and there is no current ETA on how long it might take.
“Fallout 76 will be undergoing maintenance on Tuesday, July 9th starting around 10am ET.
“During this time, Fallout 76 will be offline and inaccessible for all platforms. We will let you know as soon as downtime begins, and you can return to this thread for updates as maintenance progresses.
“Please note: This update is to make some backend adjustments to the Atomic Shop and therefore will not include patch notes.”
The good news is that it shouldn’t be a long wait before the next major Fallout 76 patch arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
“We had mentioned that the upcoming Patch 11 would arrive early this month, but a few of the improvements we’re planning to implement need a little more time to brew,” a recent message from Bethesda explains.
“As a result, we’re currently planning to roll out this update in mid-July. We’re excited to get Patch 11 into your hands.”
And we already know some of the features being worked on for inclusion in Patch 11, following early patch notes being shared by the development team.
Bethesda is making changes to item descriptions to make them easier to read, as well as tweaking how long certain food and materials last.
Bethesda has also confirmed plans to make it easier for new players to leave the Vault and have a more balanced experience, with Bethesda adding: “Characters under level 25 will pay fewer caps when fast travelling, those under level 15 will have higher disease resistance, and we’re replacing a number of early-game Challenge rewards with items and other supplies that will give these Dwellers a better chance at survival.
“We’re also looking to reduce creature difficulty in a few sub-regions within the Ash Heap, the Savage Divide, and Toxic Valley so that Dwellers who are stepping out of the Forest for the first time have fewer encounters with higher-level enemies.
“We’ll have more details to share in the full patch notes, but these are a few of the larger changes we’re planning to make to help new characters better adapt to life in the Wasteland.”
Other features being worked on for Patch 11 include improvements to the Power Armour system and the addition of Bulk Junk Auto Scrapping options.
