If you were hoping to purchase a PS5 from GAME or Argos then one stock tracker account has just delivered a bad update. It had previously been rumoured that GAME could drop their next PS5 restock as early as this week, while Argos had been rumoured to be releasing more PS5 stock either this week or next week. However, instead we’re coming to the close of the second successive week where there hasn’t been a major PS5 restock in the UK.
BT did start taking orders once again for the PS5 in the past few days – but this was for the firm’s customers only, so wasn’t a restock with general availability.
All eyes had been on the GAME and Argos restocks as these retailers have arguably received the best stock drops in 2021 – with restocks that stick around for longer than competitors.
However, the @PS5StockAlertUK Twitter – which has been bang on the money about previous GAME and Argos restocks – has just delivered some bad news.
PS5: Sony unveil pricing for PlayStation 5 console
The PS5 stock tracker account said both Argos and GAME have no stock at the moment, with Argos not expecting PS5 shipments “anytime soon”.
While GAME allegedly is not receiving PS5 shipments till the end of April – and as a result it’s unclear whether there will be any movement at the retailer next week.
It’s been claimed GAME could either take back orders for the PS5 next week or no sales will happen at all.
The @PSSStockAlertUK Twitter posted: “Breaking: GAME not to receive PS5 shipments till the end of April. They currently have no stock at all. The current release date shown on the bundles page is a placeholder, which they’ve done before for other products. They will either do backorders next week, or no sales at all.”
The account then went on to add: “Most of this is due to Sony’s semiconductor shortage. GAME currently does not know how much stock Sony will ship to them. Also, as contacted by Sony, GAME will not be selling the PS5 in-store once retail opens up in the UK. This is due to high demand of the product & COVID-19.”
While speaking about the Argos stock situation the PS5 stock tracker account tweeted: “News: Argos to not get PS5 shipments anytime soon. I’ve been informed that no stock is available, and no stock will be available for a while. Argos do not know when to expect their next shipment from Sony. Why? Semiconductor shortage & Evergreen.”
In terms of other retailers, it had previously been rumoured that Very this week would also be taking orders for the PS5 once again – but so far that has failed to materialise.
Amazon, for their part, had been rumoured to be taking orders for the PS5 twice this month – with the first of these restocks expected to go live next week.
However, we’ll have to wait and see whether that still ends up being the case or if Amazon – like other UK retailers – will now be opening orders for the PS5 once again at a later date.
