Lost Vikings 2 And RPM Racing Coming To Blizzard Arcade Collection
In a surprisingly pro-consumer move for the publisher, Activision Blizzard announced last night that both Lost Vikings 2 and RPM Racing would be getting added to the Blizzard Arcade Collection in the compilation’s latest patch. The extra games come alongside a host of new features and quality-of-life improvements that touch up these retro titles for modern audiences.
The biggest addition is a “Streamer Mode,” which replaces Rock n Roll Racing’s licensed soundtrack with midi renditions of songs to avoid DMCA takedowns. There is also a new four-player local multiplayer option for racing against your friends. Another solid feature is the “Design Documents Gallery” in the Museum section. Likely a bunch of scanned documents and concept art stills, this addition is said to provide insight into how these classic titles went from the concept stage to the final product.
The patch featuring these extra games should be live now on all platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch). Simply download it and you’ll find the two extra games ready to be played. On PC, Blizzard is selling the compilation through its website with a host of different editions that add extra goodies. The cheapest tier is $20, but an “Epic Pack” with a plethora of coupons, loot boxes, skins, and pets for other Blizzard games will run you $60.
For those that are just now hearing of the Blizzard Arcade Collection, the pack was surprise-released a few months ago at BlizzConline 2021 as the debut announcement of the convention. It launched with The Lost Vikings, Rock n Roll Racing, and Blackthorne.
