More Animal Crossing: New Horizons content coming this year promises Nintendo

A small update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is coming this week, with more free content planned for later in the year.

It’s been a quiet few months for Animal Crossing: New Horizons players. While it remains one of the most successful and popular games on the Nintendo Switch, some players aren’t impressed with how little new content has been added to it so far this year.

It’s started to reach the point where some were worried that support for the game is already coming to a close, barely a year and half after New Horizons released last March.

Fortunately, that’s not the case. Today, Nintendo announced via Twitter that the next free update is scheduled to arrive this Thursday, July 29, three months after the last major update. It doesn’t sound like a particularly substantial one, however, with it only adding weekly fireworks shows and new seasonal items.

In a follow-up Tweet, Nintendo does confirm that even more free updates are in development and will release later this year. It doesn’t provide any further details than that, but you can probably expect Halloween and Christmas events at the very least.
