Next Assassin’s Creed Reportedly Titled ‘Mirage’ And Could Launch In 2023
More details have come to light about the next entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. According to the latest reports, the next game will be called Assassin’s Creed: Mirage and could launch in Spring 2023.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla was the last entry in the long-standing series. Now, the latest rumor suggests the game is going back to its ‘basics’ and will take inspiration from the first game in the series.
As spotted by Gamesradar, YouTuber j0nathan revealed details about the upcoming title in a video. It says that the game will be set in Baghdad and will explore the events of the Anarchy of Samarra between 860 and 870 AD. However, it also mentions that the game will not include a lot of the RPG elements like level systems and dialogue choices. The lead character is reportedly named Basim who is a young thief and who eventually meets the Hidden Ones.
This report is on par with industry insider Jason Schrier’s report that discarded the previous rumor of the game’s Aztec setting. The latest report corroborates Schrier's previous suggestions of the name and the release date for the game. However, the latest leak also mentions that the game will include multiple cities to explore, which Schrier believes to be inaccurate.
Apart from this, the leak also mentions how Ubisoft is secretly working on a remake of the first Assassin's Creed. It also says that it will have a season pass and will include a DLC set in Constantinople. Since this is rumored to release after Assassin’s Creed Mirage, this could be a part of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Infinity project. It is supposed to be a live-service platform that will incorporate multiple different settings and will receive regular updates, along with multiplayer modes as well. There is also a ‘Project Red’ in the works for Assassin’s Creed Infinity which is reportedly set in Asia.
Ubisoft has done a great job in keeping Infinity a secret considering we barely have any information about the same. Hopefully, the upcoming Ubisoft Forward Event will reveal more details about it.
