Sony is expanding its PlayStation Direct operation so that console hunters in the UK will soon be able to buy PS5 stock directly from them.
PS Direct has been available in the United States for some time and has proven popular with gamers trying to avoid resellers.
As usual, Sony only has a certain number of consoles to sell, meaning that restock events sell out quickly.
So far, PlayStation Direct has expanded into Germany, and Sony has confirmed that more European cities will be added soon.
The UK is on the list, with Sony telling gamers today: “PlayStation’s online store expands to Europe!
“Starting today with its official launch in Germany, with the UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg launching soon. Stay tuned for more details on the UK launch.”
As the information above suggests, we don’t have a set time for when PlayStation Direct UK will launch.
However, the timing makes it possible that the new service will be live before the busy holiday period in December.
PlayStation Direct is not part of the digital PlayStation Store front, but is a place where fans can buy hardware and other merchandise.
To purchase a PS5 console from PlayStation Direct you must have a PSN account and be signed in on direct.playstation.com.
It should also be noted that due to high demand PS5 consoles are limited to one per household.
Sometimes Sony releases PlayStation 5 stock via email invitations, which helps to guarantee an easier time of buying a console.
And they also launch consoles to the general public who have an active PSN account.
This second way is much like all the other retail experiences, with any PS5 restock putting you into a queue and usually ending without success.
But having another way of buying a console will still be a huge boost to those gamers who are hoping to upgrade to a PS5 before the end of the year.
The good news is that a new PS5 restock has been confirmed for the UK this week, following a flurry of activity during the first week of November.
With the initial releases now past, a new report suggests that Argos will be launching one of the next major restocks of the month.
A new PlayStation 5 shipment is expected to arrive later this week and will come with a few limitations.
This includes Argos only providing disc edition PS5 stock, with no digital variants expected to be included.
The new Argos drop is expected to occur between Tuesday, November 9, and Thursday, November 11, 2021.
The good news is that more details will be revealed before the PS5 restock begins, giving gamers more time to prepare.
