Pokemon Brilliant Diamond’s Cover Art Is So Detailed You Can See Dialga’s Tastebuds

The cover art for Pokemon’s Diamond and Pearl remakes is so detailed you can see Dialga’s tastebuds and Palkia’s fur.

Pokemon has been celebrating its 25th year by constantly hitting its fans with celebratory news. Whether it be the announcement of a new game, shoving Pokemon cards into happy meals, or getting Katy Perry to sing about it. This week, it kept the Pokemon news wheel turning by revealing release dates for Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, and Legends Arceus.

As expected, the Diamond and Pearl remakes will be with us in time for the 2021 holiday season. November 19, 2021, to be exact. Cover art for both of the remakes, as well as Legends Arceus, was also revealed alongside the release dates. Diamond and Pearl’s covers look pretty basic at first glance, reminiscent of the original games. However, a closer look reveals that not to be the case at all.

Dialga and Palkia, the legendary Pokemon that graces the two covers, have been given some serious upgrades when it comes to finer details. A closer look at Dialga’s head shows that it has scuff marks on certain parts of its body, likely from battle, and it appears to be wet and glistening. Game Freak has even gone to the effort of giving the Pokemon tastebuds.

Zooming in on Shining Pearl’s Palkia shows that the Pokemon has fur. A characteristic many Pokemon likely possess but hasn’t been shown off in previous games due to the work involved to make it so. While the two Pokemon, and the rest of the creatures waiting to be found in a remastered Sinnoh region, probably won’t look this good in-game, it’s a promising sign of what’s to come when the games arrive on Switch this November.

Pokemon fans were clamoring for Diamond and Pearl remakes for a while before the announcement was made, hence the news being so well-received. In fact, unlike some other video game franchises celebrating a birthday this year, Pokemon is yet to miss the mark via its announcements in 2021. The reveal of Legends Arceus marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the series, and there’s still the release of Pokemon Unite to look forward to.
