PS5 price warning for Sony as PlayStation owners confirm cost is biggest concern
PlayStationis opting to keep fairly quiet about their plans for the next-genPS5console.
So far Sony has only teased a few small features, including discussions about Ray-Tracing and significantly improved load times of the machine.
It's hard to say exactly when Sony could unveil more info, especially given how they casually dropped such a wealth of information in their report with WIRED some months back.
But it's clear to us that the price of the PS5 could be the biggest factor in deciding whether Sony maintains it's console dominance over Xbox.

This was backed up by the results of a recent Daily Star poll that attracted the attention of over 5000+ votes, users were asked:
"What is most important to you when it comes to buying a PS5?"
The options put to users included 'The Price', 'The Graphics (4K-8K)', 'Backwards Compatibility' and 'Exclusive Games'
And the results were fairly emphatic, with 45% voting that the price of the PS5 was the most important factor.
Comparatively, only 25% were concerned with Backwards compatibility, 20% are focussed on the graphics and only 10% care about the exclusive games.

More specifically the Sony exec pledged to lower the company's carbon footprint with some innovative new initiatives; both for the company and the everyday console user.
"At SIE, we have made substantial commitments and efforts to reduce the power consumption of the PS4 by utilising efficient technologies such as System-on-a-Chip architecture integrating a high-performance graphics processor, die shrink, power scaling, as well as energy-saving modes such as Suspend-to-RAM.

"For context, we estimate the carbon emissions we have avoided to date already amount to almost 16 million metric tons, increasing to 29 million metric tons over the course of the next 10 years (which equals the CO2 emissions for the nation of Denmark in 2017).
"I am also very pleased to announce the next-generation PlayStation console will include the possibility to suspend gameplay with much lower power consumption than PS4 (which we estimate can be achieved at around 0.5 W).
"If just one million users enable this feature, it would save equivalent to the average electricity use of 1,000 US homes."

Comparatively, energyusecalculator.com reports that a base model PS4 only uses 90-150 watts, compared to 75-160 for the PS4 Pro.
