Starfield Is Reportedly Exclusive To Xbox And PC And Won’t Release On PlayStation

PlayStation players who were looking forward to Bethesda’s upcoming RPG Starfield might be disappointed, as it’s reportedly going to be exclusive to Xbox and PC.

This report comes from VentureBeat reporter and gaming insider Jeff Grubb, who Tweeted, “Starfield is exclusive to Xbox and PC. Period. This is me confirming that”.

Jeff Grubb has previously been pretty spot-on with his leaks and rumours, so it’s likely that Starfield isn’t coming to PlayStation consoles anytime soon. This is still just a rumour, so take it with a pinch of salt, but Grubb’s track record is pretty accurate.

This news shouldn’t come as a massive surprise considering Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda earlier in the year, but both companies have been pretty tight-lipped on Starfield and the subject of what games will become Xbox exclusives. From now on, it’s probably safe to assume that every Bethesda game will be exclusive to Xbox unless told otherwise, like with Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo.

Making Starfield an Xbox exclusive is a pretty big move on Microsoft’s part, as it’s the first game to come from Bethesda since the acquisition, and shows how things are going to look moving forward. The game was announced for all platforms when it was initially revealed, so some fans were expecting to see it stick to that and release for PlayStation, but unlike Deathloop and Ghostwire there are no marketing deals sticking it to one console.

Starfield rumours have been around since the game was initially revealed, but they’ve started to heat back up again as we approach E3 2021 and a potential re-reveal for the game. Screenshots from an early build of the game and a survey from Bethesda has hinted that the game will involve ship-building in some capacity.

The biggest rumour at the moment has the game revealed and launched this year, similarly to what Bethesda previously did with Fallout 4. Insiders have also stated that ad time for Starfield has already been bought and that Microsoft is confident that the game will release this year. .
