The Division 2 update 5 patch notes news, server downtime schedule, new missions, more
UPDATE: The Division 2 developer Ubisoft has revealed patch notes for the new update.
In addition to detailing the new missions and challenges, the patch notes reveal more about the weapon balance tweaks and skill platform changes.
The new patch notes are available in full over on The Division 2 forums.
ORIGINAL: The Division 2 developer Ubisoft is deploying Title Update 5 on PS4, Xbox One and PC – but only after three hours of server maintenance.
The server downtime kicked off at 8.30am UK time and is scheduled to end 3-hours later at 11.30am BST.
It’s worth remembering that most Division 2 maintenance finishes earlier than planned, so don’t be surprised if the game comes back online before 11.30am.
While full patch notes are yet to be released, Title Update 5 makes a number of bug fixes, weapon balances and improvements, and also adds new exotics, a flashlight pistol attachment and much more.
Elsewhere, The Division 2 Title Update 5 launches alongside a new in-game experience known as Expeditions, as well as two new main missions and two classified assignments.
This content will be available exclusively for Year 1 Pass holders on July 23, before releasing as a free download for remaining players on July 30.
This excludes the two classified assignments, which will remain exclusive to Year 1 Pass holders.
Expeditions are described as “free events that bring players to unexplored locations around D.C. to discover new narrative and gameplay opportunities”.
“These sites offer unique challenges and lore not found anywhere else: new collectibles, treasure rooms, environmental puzzles, unique boss mechanics, and more await every Agent who embarks on our Expeditions!”
The two new main missions will be available to all players at World Tier 5, beginning with Year 1 Pass holders on July 23 and remaining players on July 30.
The new story missions include Camp White Oak, where players are tasked with bringing the traitor President Andrew Ellis to justice. Players will need to assault a presidential compound in the woods as part of the revenge mission.
Meanwhile, the Manning National Zoo sees players hunt down Emeline Shaw, leader of the Outcasts. Shaw is said to be regaining her strength in the local zoo, which should make for an interesting encounter.
Another new feature coming to all players is Operation Dark Hours – Discovery Mode. This will be available for everybody on July 23.
This gives players the chance to complete an easier version of the raid in a discovery mode and with matchmaking.
Finally, the Classified Assignments – which will only ever be available to Year 1 Pass holders – are said to reveal new stories of civilian ingenuity and nefarious new plans by enemy factions.
As part of the Classified Assignments, players can explore two new areas: Washington’s Central Aquarium and NSA Site B13.
“In the Aquarium Civilian Rescue Assignment, Agents will respond to a distress call from people in a besieged community in the Central Aquarium,” Ubisoft explains.
“The calm, aquatic vibes of their makeshift home are being threatened by Hyenas, who have descended on the facility to scavenge equipment and terrorise the populace.
“Players will learn how the aquarium community banded together in the wake of the pandemic, push back the Hyenas with the help of a local ally, and discover the answer to one of this Assignment’s most poignant mysteries: What happened to all the fishies?”
The NSA Security Alert Assignment, on the other hand, tasks players with securing the National Security Agency data centre, which has been breached by the bad guys.
