The new Call of Duty update is causing corrupted data for Modern Warfare fans

Infinity Ward is currently investigating issues with the latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare update released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on January 22.

Patch 1.13 was released and whilst most of those downloading the update have experienced no issues, there are some who are unable to launch the game.

As noted by Infinity Ward's support team on Twitter, a corrupted data message is appearing after the patch has been fully downloaded and leading to issues for fans of the game.

What's more frustrating for fans, is that the prompt gives fans two choices, but the developers suggest choosing neither.

Obviously this isn't great as it's leaving some players completely unable to move forward.

The full statement as issued by Infinity Ward on Twitter, reads:

“We're currently investigating an issue where players are getting an error prompt informing them their data is corrupt or did not download properly."

“Please do not select either option, but please hard close your application. Thank you for your patience while we work on this issue.”

We would suspect that a hotfix will be forthcoming, but where this leaves those players who did select one of the two error prompts, isn't clear.

A couple of those impacted by the problem wrote on Reddit:

"I downloaded the 16.64g then went to go back to the game after it downloaded and it keeps saying that it can't access the online service."

Another added: "When I try starting the game it tells me I don't have the special ops DLC, then it downloads it, and when it's finished and I try to start the game, it tells me the same thing and starts the download AGAIN."

A follow-up message from Infinity Ward's Community Manager added the following information for fans still seeking a resolution:

"We’re still working on a fix for those who received the error prompt after today’s update. Should have another status update in a bit – waiting on confirmation from a few teams. You all are awesome. Thank you for being patient with us. Seriously."

However, two hours later we're still waiting for further details and it could yet be some time before we learn more.

More to follow.
