When does Pokemon GO’s 2019 Halloween Event start?
Pokemon Go has had a really busy year – even over the past few weeks, we've seen a range of updates in the game, and it looks like we could be getting Team GO Rocket bosses in the title very soon, to boot.
On top of that, we can also expect the now-traditional Halloween event to go live in the game sooner rather than later, too.
2019 will be the fourth year that Pokemon GO has included a Halloween event, and it's been getting bigger and better every year since it began.
Usually, we see an increase in Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon, with seasonal gifts and increased spawn rates helping trainers achieve their goal of catching them all.
But when will it begin? Past years are a good indicator if we want to find out.
Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 – Start date
In previous years, we've seen a fairly consistent pattern in when the in-game Halloween event went live. Here's what it looks like:
• 2016: October 26th – November 1st
• 2017 : October 20th – November 2nd
• 2018 : October 23rd – November 1st
The pattern seems to be that we see the event go live in the last week of the month, but there are no set days it will launch on (the dates above are Wednesday, Friday and Tuesday, respectively).
The event, we can assume, may go live any time from Monday, October 21st until Friday, 25th October and will likely run until the first or second day of November.
We'll update you as more solid information presents itself.
Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 – Features
There are a variety of bonuses you can expect when it comes to Pokemon GO and the Halloween event.
In 2016, Trainers received double candy for catching, hatching and transfer of Pokémon. You would earn Buddy Candy four times faster than usual.
In 2017, a double amount of candies was awarded for catching, hatching, and transfer of Pokémon, and Buddy Pokémon found Candy twice as fast.
In 2018, Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region (notably Drifloon and Stunky) started to appear more frequently in the wild. There was no Buddy Candy bonus, just double catching/hatching bonuses.
That means in 2019, we can maybe see more Unova Pokemon appear in the game, an increased rate of Candy acquisition from various sources, and increased spawns of Dark and Ghost Pokemon too.
We expect the following Pokemon to be added to the game for Halloween:
• Zorua (Possibly in Raids)
• Zoroark (Possibly in Raids)
Pokemon GO Halloween 2019 – Field Research Tasks
We have no idea what new research tasks (or even Special Research Tasks, similar to 2018's 'A Spooky Message') may appear, but we're willing to bet there will at least be a few new Research Tasks appearing in-game.
The rewards for these tasks tend to revolve around Ghost- or Dark-type Pokemon, with increased Shiny odds, too.
We hope the appearance of Sinnoh Stones increases because evolving Murkrows into Honchcrows for a solid two or three weeks would be the dream.
We'll keep you updated as more information is announced.
