When it comes to relevant professions in World of Warcraft, there are very few that perform better than Jewelcrafting. Alchemy may have its flasks for raiding and Blacksmithing may have plate armor, but every single class seeks out the empowering buffs that Jewelers bring to the table.

In Dragonflight, the overhaul of all the professions with new specializations and tiered quality of crafted items allows Jewelcrafting to shine even brighter than before. If you want to be the one to control the gem market, here's everything you need to know about the profession in the latest expansion.

Overview

Jewelcrafting is one of several ore refinement professions, taking the resources gathered from Miners and Prospecting them for the gems hidden within. In the hands of a proper Jeweler, these gems can be socketed into pieces of gear to give any secondary stat that someone could want, or they can be used to make new trinkets, rings, or necklaces.

As such, you'll want to take up Mining as your secondary profession. Not only will this give you access to the required rare ores, but you'll save yourself from emptying your bank on the Auction House.

If you have multiple characters and you've already designated one of them to be your gathering character, other professions that pair nicely with Jewelcrafting are Blacksmithing or Enchanting.

When you're ready to begin your Jewelcrafting journey, you'll want to seek out Tuluradormi in Valdrakken, who can be found in a small building in The Artisan's Market. Here, you'll be able to learn recipes, work at the nearby Jeweler's Bench, and fetch Jewelcrafting supplies from Shakey Flatlap outside.

Once you're situated with your skills, you should buy profession equipment before you get started. While these aren't necessarily required to rank up, having one tool and two accessories equipped will provide a boost to your skills and improve your recipes.

Gear From Jewelcrafting

In addition to the socketed gems, you can also provide brand-new pieces of gear. In Dragonflight, these uniquely become more powerful based on how many socketed gems you currently have.

Jewelry

A staple of Jewelcrafting, rings and necklaces have always been supplied by this profession. Both slots range from appropriate gear for fresh level 70 characters to pieces desired by endgame raiders.

How To Level Up In Jewelcrafting

Obtaining levels through Jewelcrafting is a lengthier process than most of the other professions. You'll contend with long cooldowns on certain recipes and a hefty material cost. However, you'll want to follow the same basic outline of crafting any orange recipes to achieve max level as quickly as possible.

  • From level one, Prospect all of your ores into gems. You'll find yourself returning to this process several times, but in the beginning, it'll grant experience until level 15.
  • Purchase all of the recipes you can from your trainer, but focus on crafting either the Pendant of Impending Perils or the Band of New Beginnings to achieve level 20.
  • Next, begin to make Frameless Lens so that you can craft Bold-Print Bifocals until you reach level 25.
  • Buy the Revitalizing Red Carving from your trainer and craft several of them to hit level 30.

Timewatcher's Patience will also be available to you at level 25, but it's not as optimal as Revitalizing Red Carving due to its 20-hour cooldown.

  • Once you've hit level 30, you'll be able to craft Earth, Fire, Air, and Frost gems in the form of Nozdorite. You can utilize any of these four recipes to rank up to level 80.

The final recipe that your trainer can teach you is at level 40, so once you rank up to level 80, you'll have to find the other sources for your remaining recipes yourself. You can easily find more through different specializations, or you can grind out Renown with the Dragon Isles reputations.

Jewelcrafting Specializations

After you've crafted a brand-new recipe, you may notice your character accumulating points known as Dragon Isles Jewelcrafting Knowledge. These are vital to choosing one of your specializations, first unlocked at level 25. While you can only choose one at first, these trees offer you perks and bonuses for different recipes.

Jeweler's Toolset Mastery

The first specialization option, Jeweler's Toolset Mastery, is a generalized talent tree. Although it doesn't provide any new recipes, it allows you to craft all recipes faster and with higher quality, boosting stats like Inspiration.

Faceting

Faceting is the individual gem specialization. This tree unlocks a huge bulk of your recipes and grants your gems a bigger boost to secondary stats. At the end of the tree are variations of Illimited Diamonds, which are among the best gear enhancements in the game.

Setting

The third specialization is Setting, which revolves around crafting unique pieces of jewelry and statues. These recipes give you access to a fantastic market on the Auction House, allowing you to make gold from raiders and casual players alike.

Enterprising

Finally, the last specialization is Enterprising. This talent tree gives you recipes for fun new novelties and profession equipment, allowing you to help out other crafters.
