Xbox servers down: Fortnite, Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends among most reported
Tonight has seen Xbox Live servers go offline due to an outage connected to games and other content downloaded from the Microsoft Store.
According to the tech giant, this problem is affecting Games, Movies and Music on the Xbox One console.
So while single-player games that can be run on discs are probably safe, others have been severely affected.
This includes mostly downloaded titles like Fortnite Battle Royale, Apex Legends and Warframe.
Most of these game can only be downloaded from online stores, meaning they’re facing the biggest issues tonight.
It’s unclear why Rainbow Six Siege is among these titles, but it appears it must have a large following on Xbox One servers, directly downloaded from the store.
Here’s the latest news from Microsoft, who confirm tonight: “Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content. Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience.
“We are aware that some members may be having problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, and we will be sure to provide you with frequent updates.”
Here is another message from Ubisoft on the problems facing their games tonight, adding: “Hello everyone. We’re aware of an issue currently affecting connectivity on Xbox One and are working towards resolving this.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience. Please be sure to check this thread for future updates.”
The good news is that while this outage has been ongoing for a couple of hours, there’s a good chance it will be solved very soon.
However, it’s still hard to guess how long an outage may last, as Microsoft has not revealed what has caused tonight’s problems or provided an ETA on when a fix may be deployed.
When the issues surrounding Xbox Live are solved, there shouldn’t any lingering problems for gamers wanting to play games like Fortnite and Apex Legends, as tonight’s problems are external in nature.
From what has been shared so far, only Xbox One consoles have been affected.
