Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 2.0 update is now live

A big (free!) update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available for the Nintendo Switch life simulation game. Originally scheduled for release on Friday, Nov. 5 — alongside a substantial paid add-on called Happy Home Paradise, which will introduce all-new activities and items to New Horizons — Nintendo has apparently made the update available early.

As of Wednesday evening, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 2.0 update is now available for download. To update the game, players can select “software update” from the Switch home menu by pressing the plus button while the Animal Crossing: New Horizons icon is highlighted.

Happy Home Paradise, which is available for pre-order from the Switch eShop, does not appear to be playable yet. Animal Crossing fans may actually have to wait until Nov. 5 (or the evening of the day before) to experience that new DLC.
