Free Pokken Tournament Trial Now Live For Switch Online Members
Nintendo is giving Switch Online subscribers another chance to sample one of the system’s games at no cost. Right now, NSO members are able to play the Switch Pokemon fighting game Pokken Tournament DX free of charge for a limited time.
The trial period kicked off on July 29 and runs until 11:59 PM PT on August 4. Throughout that week, Switch Online subscribers will have access to the full game, including its online modes, and any progress made during the trial period will carry over if you decide to purchase the title after the free trial ends. You can download the free game trial from Nintendo’s website.
Pokken Tournament DX launched on Switch back in 2017 and is an expanded port of the Wii U game, featuring a handful of additional fighters and modes. A Deluxe Battle Pack DLC was released in 2018 and introduced even more new fighters and support characters, including Blastoise and Aegislash. The Deluxe Battle Pack costs $15 USD.
We awarded the original Wii U version a 9/10 in our Pokken Tournament review. “Frequently magnificent to look at, delicately designed, and rewarding for players across all skill levels, it’s the Pokemon fighting game deserving of a 20-year wait,” critic Tamoor Hussain wrote.
Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions, meanwhile, cost $4 USD for one month, $8 USD for three months, and $20 USD for one year. Nintendo also offers an annual Family Plan that covers up to eight Nintendo Accounts, even on different systems, for $35 USD. Other perks you receive for being a subscriber include the ability to play online, occasional in-game freebies like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Spirit Board Challenge Packs, and access to classic NES and SNES games.
