Six Batman games are free at the Epic Games Store

It’s been a big week for Batman and Epic Games. Less than 24 hours after data miners found evidence that the caped crusader will be coming to Fortnite, the Epic Games Store dropped two Batman trilogies — a total of six PC games starring the caped crusader — onto its weekly free games lineup. This is the largest selection of titles Epic has offered since launching in December 2018.

The first selection, Batman: Arkham Collection, bundles together the Arkham Trilogy. Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and Batman: Arkham Knight are widely considered to be some of the best Batman stories ever told, as well as perfecting superhero video game mechanics. Our review of Arkham Knight, the final game in the trilogy, called it “the best game of this console generation,” stating that, “Batman has been perfected.”

In addition to the Arkham Trilogy, Epic is also offering a more whimsical take on Gotham’s favorite son with the Lego Batman Trilogy. While ostensibly for children, the Lego video games are consistently great puzzle platformers and I’ve had a lot of fun with them well into adulthood. The Lego Batman Trilogy bundles Lego Batman: The Videogame [sic], Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes, and Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

All six Batman games will be available to download on Windows PC for free at the Epic Games Store through Sept. 26, when they’ll be replaced by “reality simulation game” Everything and Metro 2033 Redux.
