Doom Eternal, Elder Scrolls Online get free upgrades on PS5, Xbox Series X
Doom Eternal, which launched in March, and The Elder Scrolls Online will both be released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and publisher Bethesda Softworks says players who already own either on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be able to upgrade for free.
Moreover, Bethesda committed to delivering free upgrades for any existing titles it brings forward to the new console generation. Bethesda has not yet announced any other PS4/Xbox One titles for the new consoles.
“Additionally, our teams are working hard to ensure both titles will support backwards compatibility when the new consoles launch,” Bethesda said in a statement Thursday morning.
The statement added that a launch date for Doom Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online for the new consoles, along with a list of their enhancements and new features, will be coming later.
QuakeCon 2020, which moved to a fully online affair because of the COVID-19 pandemic, gets underway beginning Friday, and Bethesda said more information about their latest games and next-generation plans will be revealed then. Fans may follow along through Bethesda’s Twitch channel.
