Metro Exodus is getting a new game plus mode, developer commentary, and more
Metro Exodus, the conclusion of a trilogy that launched nearly a decade ago, has been praised by both critics and fans alike since its release in February. Now, developer 4A Games is giving back with a massive new patch.
Today’s patch is called the Ranger Update. Expect to need an additional 6 GB of space on your device. There are two different sets of spoiler-filled patch notes to dive in to, one each for PC and consoles.
The big news is that Exodus will now include a new game plus mode. Rather than a fixed mode, 4A is giving players control over how their second run-through goes. Options include starting with all weapons, reducing your inventory to only a single weapon, making the game’s enemies much more challenging, increasing the incidence of bad weather conditions, and persistent radiation.
New game plus will even feature developer commentary, which will be scattered throughout the game in the form of new collectible items called Green Tape Players.
The Ranger Update also has your run of the mill performance tweaks and bug fixes, as well as some significant quality of life upgrades. For PC players, that includes improved ultrawide monitor support and the option to use a DualShock 4 controller. Ironically, following a last-minute decision to sell the game exclusively through the Epic Games Store, Exodus will offer support for Steam controllers. On the console side, 4A says it’s significantly improved the responsiveness of the controller inputs, and beefed up the auto aiming systems that were a bit lacking at launch.
